These two 1:50 dozers answer different collecting questions. The D7C is an open period tractor with a fixed figure; the D5 is a modern machine with opening access and an optional operator. Decide whether the display should explain an era or reveal an interior.
Visible character versus access
| Priority | D7C · 85577 | D5 · 85951 |
|---|---|---|
| Operating position | Open, fixed period operator and umbrella | Enclosed cab; removable operator |
| Blade angle | Screw-set positions | Moving VPAT arrangement |
| Presentation items | Base and retro collector card | High Line model presentation |
| Close-view compromise | Visible blade fixings | Visible engine-panel hinges |
The D7C review treats its fixed operator as part of the subject. The D5 review treats the opening panels as useful only when the viewing position reveals them. Neither criterion can be reduced to a count of moving parts.
Two different kinds of adjustment
A screw-set angle is a configuration choice. A normally moving joint is a posing feature. Do not test the D7C as if its blade should swing like the D5’s: use the supplied directions for the exact model and stop when movement requires an undocumented action.
