Lower is not automatically smaller. A model excavator may need its stick extended before the boom can descend, reducing height while increasing length. A shelf or transporter has to accommodate both dimensions in the same pose.
Keep one pose for the whole measurement
| Measurement | Include |
|---|---|
| Overall length | The farthest front and rear points |
| Height | The highest point in that same configuration |
| Width | The complete footprint, including any side projection |
| Reference | A photograph of the measured pose |
The 320F L 85931 inspection documents a constrained inward fold. It is a useful warning against measuring a low boom in one position and a short front end in another, then combining the two numbers into an impossible envelope.
Test the destination on paper
Mark the usable deck or shelf outline and the measured model outline. Check overhang, nearby objects and the room needed to remove the model. Keep the pose within documented movement; do not gain a few millimeters by pressing against a stop.
For a case that permits only a particular height, the longer outline may decide the purchase. For a short deck, a slightly taller documented pose may be the only plausible option; neither solution establishes that a different release will behave the same way.
