When a review says a model has loose rams, the useful buying question is whether the offered example stays in the position you want. You do not need to recreate a fault or plan a repair to answer that question.
Request the resting result
Ask for a photograph of the exact offered model after it has been positioned and released, on a level surface. State the pose you need. A maximum-height photograph is not useful if your intended display is an intermediate height.
Read the response in branches
- Pose shown clearly: assess that position and the item’s condition; do not extrapolate to every angle.
- Only a supported pose shown: the holding question remains unanswered.
- Pose drifts or will not remain: choose another display position or another item if the raised pose is essential.
- A repair is suggested: keep the purchase decision separate from an unverified modification.
The CAT 315 review records sample-level ram and turntable concerns. The 972 XE review records a highest-lift holding issue. Neither establishes a failure rate, and neither proves the condition of another seller’s item.
Stop at the purchase decision
This is an evidence request, not a tightening or lubrication procedure. If the offered model does not meet the pose requirement, accepting a lower position is a deliberate compromise. Buying on the assumption that a repair will work is a different and unresolved proposition.
