Before using a number from a listing, ask which object it describes: the miniature, the real machine, or the shipping package. Mixing those three produces comparisons that look precise but answer the wrong question.

Read the object before the unit

Keep these measurements in separate records
Listing detail Use it for Do not use it for
Miniature length, width or height Display planning, with the measurement pose identified Opening clearance that was not measured
Real-machine payload or engine power Understanding the represented subject The miniature’s load capacity or motor performance
Shipping-box dimensions Packaging space The model or complete set’s display footprint
Nominal scale The stated size relationship A guarantee that every measured detail follows it exactly

Why the AD45 name is not a miniature load rating

The full-size 45-tonne capacity is information about the subject. It does not authorize loading the model. The 85717 inspection discussed in its review describes a display load insert, which is a separate model feature.

A comparison row is ready only when…

Both values describe the same kind of measurement in the same units and a comparable pose. Keep each machine’s dimensions separate from the base footprint of a set. If a miniature measurement is unstated, leave it unknown; a nearby box measurement is not a substitute.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I calculate every model dimension by dividing the real machine by 50?

That can only be an estimate for a stated configuration. It does not establish the actual manufactured model size, its movable pose or package dimensions.
