Neither model reproduces the real car’s retractable roof as a complete operating mechanism. The meaningful difference is what the separate pieces let you show, and what their inspected limitations are.
A closed pose is not equally straightforward
The beige SL’s sampled hardtop has fit and color issues. The SLK uses a complete separate hardtop plus a simplified stowed-roof representation; the latter cannot become the installed roof. Those are different kinds of compromise, not two versions of the same fault.
| Desired view | More relevant evidence |
|---|---|
| Light, open cabin | SL: beige surfaces and wood-effect detail |
| Two-tone cockpit | SLK: color extends beyond seat inserts |
| Closed SL silhouette | Inspect the actual hardtop fit and color |
| Stowed SLK roof in the trunk | Use the simplified piece only in its intended role |
For the exact pieces and limitations, see the Travertine Beige SL and the Vivianit Green SLK. The SL also has a rear-lamp period mismatch, which matters if early-R230 accuracy is the point of the collection.
