Start with the visible action you want to represent. A grader’s central moldboard and a dozer’s front blade create different compositions; placing both in a straight row can hide the features that made you choose them.

Give each machine a visible role

For a grader-led display, leave a sightline to the center blade. For a dozer-led display, show the front blade angle or rear ripper. This is a static modeling composition, not guidance for operating real machinery. Use reference photographs for a plausible arrangement without presenting the miniature scene as a worksite safety plan.

Lay out the equipment before the roadway

Cut paper footprints and place them on the base. Mark the primary viewing edge and try a diagonal arrangement. Leave visual separation around the important attachment so it is not hidden by another vehicle, barrier or nameplate. Check the highest and widest posed points before adding a cover.

Choose details that reinforce the scene

Keep figures and accessories at a consistent scale. Avoid adding every available sign or loose object simply to fill the base. A small collection can be clearer with one main machine, one supporting object and an uncluttered surface. Do not claim an attachment works merely because the model depicts its linkage.

Check the pose before committing

The 18M3 grader has documented limits to steering and wheel lean. The D6 XE LGP offers a different blade-led subject. Pick the machine that can show the action you want, then build the scenic shape around that verified pose.
