  • Specifications

Choose the CAT D6 XE LGP 85554 for the combination of wide tracks and an angling VPAT blade. Its rear towing hitch also distinguishes it from a ripper-equipped dozer, which changes the scene it can represent without additional parts.

The blade angle should lead the composition

The independent inspection documented blade raising and lowering plus angling to either side.

The track assemblies also oscillated across their linking bar. These features give a grading scene more to work with than a straight-ahead parked pose. They do not establish real earthmoving ability or justify forcing the model into terrain that resists its movement.

Wide metal tracks do not mean metal everywhere

  • The inspected release used soft-plastic cab handrails, a plastic access ladder and a plastic high-drive sprocket whose color was slightly different.
  • Those details matter if material consistency is part of the appeal of a diecast collection.

Examine the sprocket beside the track and body rather than inferring a uniform finish from the metal-content description.

A towing hitch changes the rear view

This version carries a hitch instead of the D8’s rear ripper.

If raised teeth are central to the display, the D8 85757 addresses that requirement directly. For a D6-focused scene, the removable operator and folding rear ladder offer quieter changes between a working and parked presentation.

Pros & Cons Analysis

See the source attributions and review limitations below.

Pros

  • An angled blade can make a road-edge composition readable without adding a second machine. Choose the viewing side so the blade’s angle is visible instead of hidden behind the track.
  • The optional figure suits a transition between working and parked scenes. Follow the model instructions for roof access and keep small parts away from the layout surface.

Cons

  • Collectors focused on material feel should inspect which details are metal and which are plastic. The presence of a diecast body does not mean every thin part is metal.

An angled blade is the D6 XE LGP’s collection role

Front-blade composition

The angled-blade subject and wide-track appearance give this D6 its purpose. Position the model so the blade angle stays visible.

A rear-ripper scene calls for a different configuration, such as the separately reviewed standard D8. Do not buy this release as a substitute merely because both are Caterpillar dozers. If thin-part material is decisive, inspect those details rather than assuming a diecast body means an all-metal model.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this model have the D8’s ripper?

No such equivalence is claimed. The inspected D6 XE LGP configuration has a rear towing hitch; the reviewed D8 standard has a ripper.

Does a diecast body mean the D6’s fine details are all metal?

No. Body construction does not establish the material of every thin component. Inspect the exact parts if material is decisive, and do not use rails as handling points.
