An opening engine cover is only an entry requirement for this shortlist. What matters is whether opening it reveals a worthwhile subject. The three selected 1:18 AUTOart editions offer different rear-compartment presentations: machinery and luggage together, contrasting mechanical surfaces, or anniversary-specific engine treatment.
Why a Ford GT with an opening cover is not included
The Prototype Heritage Ford GT also opens at the rear, but its inspection describes substantial shrouding around the engine top. It illustrates the gap between a working lid and the exposed machinery an engine-display collector may want. Opening count alone would put unlike views on the same footing.
Use the cards as three different viewing briefs
- Follow the layout: the Huayra inspection places bracing, suspension and side luggage spaces together beneath the rear bodywork.
- Look for contrasting surfaces: the EB110 inspection describes blue engine accents and metallic-looking shielding.
- Collect an edition through its machinery: the Diablo SE30 inspection identifies gold-colored details as part of its anniversary treatment.
Those criteria concern the experience of looking at the model, not a measured ranking of mechanical accuracy. The accounts do not provide a controlled dimensional or durability comparison. A collector who needs proof of those properties should not infer it from the selected views.
The individual cards retain compromises elsewhere on each car. You can accept a wheel-marking omission for a rear-engine display without pretending it has disappeared.
